Understanding Medical Reimbursement

Employers provide this perk to cover medical expenses. It's distinct from taxable medical allowance.

Reimbursement is exempt from tax up to Rs. 15,000 yearly. Eligible expenses include treatment for self and family.

Valid bills or proof of expenditure must be submitted. Treatment in certain approved facilities may qualify for exemption.

Exemption is limited to actual expenses incurred. Employers can only reimburse what's actually spent by the employee.
