GST Amendments: Inclusion of Tamarind and Eco-friendly Utensils

Central Government, under CGST Act, 2017, amends notification 2/2017-Central Tax (Rate). Recommendations from the Council lead to changes effective from October 1, 2019.

Notification adds "Tamarind dried" and "Plates and cups made up of all kinds of leaves/flowers/bark" to the schedule. Ruchi Bisht, Under Secretary to the Government of India, issues the notification.

Aimed at expanding the tax exemptions to promote eco-friendly alternatives.
