Exemption of Goods Supplied to FAO for Specified Projects

The Central Government, in consultation with the Council, exercises its authority under the Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, to exempt goods supplied to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for designated projects from the integrated tax levied under Section 5 of the Act.

The exemption applies to goods intended for use in the execution of projects listed in the Annexure, subject to certification by an official not below the rank of Deputy Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The certification must include details regarding the quantity and description of the goods and confirm their intended use for the specified projects.

This notification takes effect from October 1, 2019. Issued by Ruchi Bisht, Under Secretary to the Government of India, this exemption aims to support FAO projects geared towards enhancing agricultural sustainability, nutrition, and environmental conservation efforts in India.
