Revised Deadline for GST Return Filing

The Commissioner, empowered by the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, introduces amendments to return filing deadlines.

Taxpayers with turnover exceeding Rs. 5 crore in the previous fiscal year must electronically file Form GSTR-3B for May 2020 by June 27, 2020.

Businesses with turnover up to Rs. 5 crore, based in specified states and union territories, have varied deadlines:

For states like Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, the deadline is July 12, 2020. For states like Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, the deadline is July 14, 2020.

These adjustments aim to streamline compliance and accommodate regional variations.

Taxpayers should adhere to revised deadlines to avoid penalties.

The changes reflect the government's responsiveness to taxpayer needs and aim to ensure smoother tax administration.
