Paying Tax Online through the Income Tax Portal

Importance of Taxes: Taxes fund government services and infrastructure, vital for national development. Online Tax Payment Methods: Taxes like Self-Assessment, Advance Tax, TDS, and TCS can be paid online via net banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.

Without Login: Go to the e-Filing portal and choose 'e-pay Tax'. Enter PAN/TAN, confirm details, and verify via OTP. Select the tax type, assessment year, and payment method. Verify and make the payment. Download the receipt. With Login: Login to the e-Filing portal. Go to 'e-File' > 'e-Pay Tax' and select 'New Payment'. Enter tax details, choose the payment method, and pay. Download the receipt for future reference.

Saved Drafts: Edit saved drafts under 'Saved Drafts' and complete the payment. Generated Challans: Continue payment from 'Generated Challans'.

Payment Confirmation: Receive confirmation via email and mobile. Note: Payments above ₹10,000 are not allowed in cash at bank counters. Specific rules apply for companies and individuals under section 44AB.
