How to Generate EVC on the e-Filing Portal?

The service to generate the Electronic Verification Code (EVC) is exclusively available to individuals registered on the e-Filing portal. This article outlines the process of generating an EVC on the portal, which enables users to perform the following functions:

  • e-Verify various items such as statutory forms, Income Tax Returns, refund reissue requests, and responses against any notices.
  • Log in to the e-Filing portal.
  • Reset the password.

Prerequisites

To utilize this service, users must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered as an Individual Taxpayer on the e-Filing portal with a valid user ID and password.
  • Have a validated and EVC enabled bank account linked to the e-Filing portal (for Bank Account option).
  • Have a validated and EVC enabled demat account linked to the e-Filing portal (for Demat Account option).
  • Have PAN linked with the bank account (for Net banking option).
  • Possess a valid debit card (for Bank ATM option).
  • Ensure that the respective bank account is linked with PAN and registered on the e-Filing portal (for Bank ATM option).

How to Generate EVC?

  1. Login to the e-filing portal

  5. Net Banking

    Sign in to your bank account using net banking and click on the link to log in to the e-Filing portal. On your Dashboard, click Services > Generate EVC

    On the Generate EVC page, select Through Bank Account and click Continue. A success message will be displayed, and you will receive the EVC on your mobile number and email ID verified by the bank.

Another method to generate an Electronic Verification Code (EVC) is through offline mode by visiting your nearest ATM. Follow these steps:

  1. Insert your ATM card and enter your PIN.
